ICEA-Certified Birth Doula
Prenatal Yoga Instructor
My decision to become a doula and childbirth educator grew from the birth of my daughter in 1999. The event, though long and full of challenges, was empowering and made me reevaluate my chosen vocation and train to become a childbirth educator, doula, and yoga instructor. My philosophy is that for the vast majority of women, birth works best when supported with patience and left to follow its own path with as little intervention as possible. By sharing information, providing encouragement and supporting their choices, I help women feel respected and listened to so they can look back on labor and birth as a positive and empowering experience. I have worked with more than 500 families as a birth doula.
Licensed Clinical Social Worker
My decision to become a birth doula grew from my personal experience birthing three children and from my professional life counseling women through their transition to motherhood. I believe that there is no one right way to give birth, only a way that is right for you. But there is no question that the birth experience has a profound impact on mother, baby and family. As a doula I provide you with the emotional and physical support necessary to help make that experience a meaningful one. I currently facilitate postpartum support groups at Blossom Birth Services and I have a private psychotherapy practice in Menlo Park. I have worked with more than 400 families as a birth doula.
M.Ed., credentialed teacher
My work as a doula starts with my heart for children and families. My experience supporting families began with my first career as an elementary school teacher, where I built relationships with the families I worked with. These relationships were based on trust, compassion and mentorship, and this continues to be the foundation upon which I support my birth and postpartum clients. I studied Human Development, have a Masters in Education, and am a credentialed teacher. I bring my passion for education into my doula work as I strive to inform you with all of your choices in birth so you feel empowered to make decisions. I am also an experienced postpartum doula and teach childbirth and postpartum preparation classes at Blossom Birth. As I continue to grow my practice, I offer lower rates to accommodate all families who desire the support of a doula.
Birth Doula, Lactation Peer Counselor and Educator, Childbirth Educator
Women need a safe emotional harbor to participate fully in the transformative power of birth. I help hold the space where families can experience and honor birth, whatever that experience may be for them. I became a doula in 2003 as a result of the life-changing experiences of birthing my two sons with doulas to support me. I am dedicated to journeying alongside parents-to-be as they take part in birth as a rite of passage. I have additional training as a lactation peer counselor and educator with the Nursing Mothers Counsel, where I have volunteered since 2000 and have trained as a childbirth educator through Birth Works. I taught breastfeeding at Blossom Birth Services for many years and currently manage their Breastfeeding Connections group. I have supported more than 200 families during labor, delivery, and immediate postpartum. **As of 2021, I am working only with families I have previously supported.
